Raleigh Area Brew-Pub Tour??

Postby TrueRedGG » Sat May 08, 2010 9:22 pm

Anyone interested in spending a Saturday afternoon touring 3 or 4 brew-pubs in the Raleigh area? Thinking of a Saturday in June--maybe 19th? Some are Lonerider, Carolina, Aviator and more--we'd need to eat sometime during the tours and sampling, too! Just post a note! GG ;)

I would definitely be interested. You always do such great rides that are both educational and involve some aspect of the local alcoholic beverage industry.:)

Count us in. when is Eric going to do his Zig-Zag? We wouldn't want to miss that. Last year it was in June, I believe?

We don't want to be too close to the Zig-Zag on Blue Ridge Parkway...I have not heard Eric say if he is going to do it this year--maybe we'll get a response by the week-end. We'll definitely do the tour--just gotta decide on a date! Could put tentative on it??????? Or JUNE TBA!! GG

Unless comments change about the BR Zig-Zag, we'd like to plan on June 19 for this event...anyone else want to chime in?

Definite tour! Brew Pubs in Raleigh area

Postby tgull » Mon Jun 07, 2010 7:51 pm

Ok, we're going on a tour--2 maybe 3 breweries in the Raleigh area--hopefully Big Boss for one of them...I am also checking on a place, but it will probably be for dinner not lunch as most places open 11 or noon...I'll keep you posted and think we'll be meeting around noon at one of the place...will try to get it outlined by Wednesday...who is in????????

Looks like we'll start Saturday about noon in Fuquay at Carolina Brewing Company and end up the evening at Aviator Brewing Co. as they have music at 7:30. We'll have some stuff posted tomorrow night. We plan to eat one late afternoon meal maybe at Natty Green's in downtown Raleigh, but I will do some follow-up on a new wine place in Knightdale to see if they would be doing a tasting--if not, it will be all beer...who else is interested besides Jim and Pauline--I think Carolina Brewing Company, Big Boss, Aviator and possible Natty Green's Pub for the meal. You would not have to stay at Aviator for the music...it's Shane Billis(I do not know what he sings). Thanks, Gayenell(Still having trouble on my home computers with my login! Garry is helping me get it straight!

Tim - I am reminded that we have tickets for the NC Symphony that day and so we should skip the beer tour. Sorry for the false alarm. We would like to try the places you suggest sometime.

If there is no one CONFIRMED going, let's cancel--reason being that everything starts after 12 noon at most of these places. What if we set up just ONE tour and late lunch???....

Here's the idea: Meet at Carolina Brewing http://www.carolinabrew.com/ for the 1:00 tour (be there at 12:30)

Then going out to eat in the area... like a short drive over to Fuquay-Varina to Cooley's (TMR has eaten there before)...
http://www.cooleys.biz/...

post by NOON on Friday if you are DEFINITELY going...

Thanks, Gayenell (hijacking Tim's ID) and Tim

Carolina Brewing opens at 12 NOON. Tour begins at 1:00. Then we'll do a drive over to Fuquay to Cooley's. See previous postings for address and directions...after Cooley's there is one more I'd like to go by BIG BOSS, but need more details...

I want to go but I can't.... I'm getting over major surgery (chest cracked open to remove a benign tumor) and I'm not allowed to drive yet. You'll need to definitely do this one again!

Have a great time!

We are going to POSTPONE this event--response was underwhelming  (sorry, Glenn) and we know this is a busy time of year...so, we want to refine the event and put it out there for a later date with some specific details--might even include a brewery in Kinston...going from Holly Springs east for the event--roads we rarely travel...so, see all of you July 3rd...at the regular meeting....Thanks, Gayenell & Tim

Ken--we'll collaborate on this one if you are up to it! :D

I'll catch you on facebook about your available week-ends and we'll check out both Mother Earth Brewery and Carolina Brewery for good dates for both...GG
